The government of Canada comprises of a set of institutions and is a common authority which governs the country. The monarch represents the Crown and as a sovereign authority, it governs together with different institutions. Thus, Canada is a constitutional monarchy, with the Queen-in-Parliament acting as the legislature, the Queen-in-Council being the executive, and the Queen-on-the-Bench – the courts. The enactment of orders-in-council, laws, and letters patent requires both, royal sign-manual and Royal Assent.
